A moment alone.<br \/>You see your face. Maybe you even talk to yourself.  <\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am strong.\u201d<br \/>\u201cI can do this.\u201d<br \/>\u201cI am enough.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sentences like these have long been part of the repertoire of positive thinking.<br \/>They&#8217;re meant to encourage, give strength, build a new self-image.<br \/>And yet:<br \/>What if they simply don&#8217;t work?<br \/>What if you keep repeating these sentences to yourself \u2013 and still feel empty inside?<\/p>\n<h3>When Words Don&#8217;t Touch<\/h3>\n<p>The truth is uncomfortable:<br \/>Our brain doesn&#8217;t respond to words.<br \/>It responds to signals.<\/p>\n<p>When you tell yourself \u201cI am safe\u201d \u2013<br \/>but your body shows tension, your breath is shallow, and your gaze uncertain \u2013<br \/>then your inner voice is drowned out by what you feel.<\/p>\n<p>Because what you <strong>feel<\/strong> counts more than what you <strong>say<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>A Short Story<\/h3>\n<p>A man starts saying positive sentences to himself every morning in front of the mirror.<br \/>He&#8217;s serious about it. He hopes for change. <\/p>\n<p>But with each day, he feels more strongly:<br \/>The words sound \u2013 but they don&#8217;t resonate.<br \/>They don&#8217;t touch anything.<br \/>Because they don&#8217;t reach the body.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, he stops speaking.<br \/>He just stands there.<br \/>Looks at himself.<br \/>And suddenly, something emerges that he had previously suppressed:<br \/>Tiredness. Disappointment. But also \u2013 a hint of hope.  <\/p>\n<p>He imagines what it would be like to have <strong>already achieved<\/strong> his goal.<br \/>He feels into it.<br \/>And for the first time, he really feels something.<\/p>\n<p>Not words.<br \/>Not concepts.<br \/>But a real, living feeling.<\/p>\n<h3>The Illusion of Thinking<\/h3>\n<p>Many people believe that change begins in the head.<br \/>With a new sentence.<br \/>A new mantra.<br \/>A new thought.<\/p>\n<p>But thoughts without feeling are like music without sound.<br \/>They remain empty.<br \/>Change nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Only when a thought <strong>embodies<\/strong> itself,<br \/>when you not only say it, but feel it \u2013<br \/>then change begins.<\/p>\n<h3>The Moment of Change<\/h3>\n<p>In EMDR self-coaching, we therefore don&#8217;t speak of the \u201cperfect cognition\u201d.<br \/>But of the <strong>first positive thought<\/strong>.<br \/>A thought that is <strong>not correct<\/strong>, but <strong>honest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A sentence like:<br \/><em>\u201cI have survived this.\u201d<br \/>\u201cI can move on now.\u201d<br \/>\u201cI have more options today.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Such sentences may not be spectacular \u2013<br \/>but they are <strong>real<\/strong>.<br \/>And that makes the difference.<\/p>\n<h3>Feeling Changes<\/h3>\n<p>What we see in the mirror is just an image.<br \/>What we <strong>feel<\/strong> while doing so is our inner truth.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the crucial question is not:<br \/><em>\u201cWhat do you think about yourself?\u201d<\/em><br \/>But:<br \/><strong>\u201cWhat do you feel when you look in the mirror?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where real change begins.<br \/>Not with a sentence \u2013 but with a feeling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What Do You Feel when You Look in the Mirror?
