Snelle oogbewegingen<\/a>. Bijna iedereen doet dat, nacht na nacht, wanneer de slaap ons inhaalt en we van de diepe slaapfase overgaan in de fase van de ondiepere slaap. Men denkt dat het de snelle oogbewegingen tijdens de slaap zijn die ons in staat stellen dagelijkse ervaringen te verwerken en op te slaan als onze ervaringsvoorraad. Zowel mooie en vreugdevolle gebeurtenissen als moeilijke momenten in het leven worden zo ge\u00efntegreerd in de structuren van onze hersenen. Wonderbaarlijk. Geest en lichaam vinden meestal de nodige ontspanning voor de volgende dag. We worden fris wakker. Normaal gesproken!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Maar wat gebeurt er als we overweldigd worden door ervaringen die ons zozeer raken dat we langzaam herstellen van de herinneringen eraan?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In zulke gevallen voelen we ons ongemakkelijk. We kunnen aan onszelf en onze capaciteiten twijfelen. Piekeren en nadenken, in de hoop een oplossing of een uitweg te vinden, houden ons wakker. Onze prestaties nemen af. We voelen ons mentaal uitgeput.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">De  <strong>Rapid Eye Movement Stimulation <\/strong>&#8211;  <strong>visuele bilaterale hemisferische stimulatie<\/strong> &#8211; kan in veel gevallen helpen om gevoelens van spanning te verminderen en overmatige emoties te kalmeren. Verondersteld wordt dat bilaterale hemisfeerstimulatie kan leiden tot een duurzame verwerking van die negatieve ervaringen uit het verleden. Dit maakt de weg vrij voor het ervaren van positieve emoties in komende vergelijkbare situaties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In toenemende mate kunnen we dankzij onze zelfregulerende ontspanningsmechanismen de uitdagingen van het dagelijks leven weer in ons voordeel gebruiken.
