Wanneer een acuut gevaar dreigt, zet de stressrespons van ons lichaam ons zonder nadenken in de juiste modus. Dit stelt ons automatisch in staat aan de toegenomen eisen van de situatie te voldoen. Onze spieren staan klaar om onmiddellijk de nodige handelingen te verrichten en onze aandacht is gericht op de waargenomen bedreiging. We proberen ons met alle middelen te beschermen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tot nu toe, zo goed!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Het wordt problematisch wanneer deze bereidheid tot stress een reactie is op niet-specifieke eisen van het dagelijks leven. Het gevaar bestaat dat geest en lichaam voortdurend in een verhoogde staat van alertheid en actiebereidheid verkeren. Noch emotioneel noch mentaal vindt de gestresste persoon rust of ontspanning, die onder andere nodig zijn voor regeneratie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Een typische en natuurlijke reactie op stress &#8211; zoals die in specifieke situaties optreedt door (defensieve) handelingen te verrichten &#8211; ontbreekt.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Het voelt alsof onze wereld steeds sneller draait &#8211; en zijn tol eist&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mentale stress kan dus een merkbare last zijn voor de moderne mens. Vooral de moderne wereld eist zijn tol. De altijd klaarstaande werkende mens staat vaak en voortdurend onder stroom. Persoonlijke houdingen en verwachtingen zijn van grote invloed op de individuele beleving van stress. Creativiteit is verminderd. Oplossingen die moeten bevrijden en zo dringend nodig zijn, blijven verborgen.
