Nog eens 22 procent heeft een misselijk gevoel en voelt zich ongemakkelijk. Zo lijdt ongeveer een kwart van de plaatselijke bevolking aan vliegangst of aviofobie. Deze angst is echter volkomen irrationeel: statistisch gezien is het vliegtuig immers het veiligste vervoermiddel van allemaal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Er zijn vele redenen voor vliegangst. Enerzijds komt dit doordat vliegen voor de meeste mensen minder gebruikelijk is dan autorijden. Velen vinden het feit dat zij zijn overgeleverd aan de piloot en de bemanningsleden en geen invloed kunnen uitoefenen op hun eigen lot gewoonweg zorgwekkend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">De aanleiding voor vliegangst is de eigen verbeelding. Al voor of tijdens de vlucht beginnen de getroffenen zich voor te stellen welke rampen zich zouden kunnen voordoen. Dergelijke scenario&#8217;s worden dan voortdurend in de geest afgespeeld, waarbij de mentale tragedie vaak eindigt in een crash. Daarbij komt nog de angst voor terroristische aanslagen, technische storingen en het onbekende. Negatieve ervaringen kunnen ook de aanleiding zijn voor vliegangst. Wie als klein kind bijvoorbeeld een noodlanding of zware turbulentie heeft moeten meemaken, is op volwassen leeftijd vatbaarder voor aviofobie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Maar zelfs degenen die geen onaangename ervaringen hebben gehad of nog nooit hebben gevlogen, zijn waarschijnlijk in het algemeen angstig. Zelfs normale operationele procedures of onschuldige geluiden tijdens de vlucht kunnen angstreacties oproepen. Ook kan de vliegangst van iemand anders op jou overgaan. Angst is namelijk een aangeboren lichamelijke reactie van mensen op situaties die zij als gevaarlijk ervaren. Angst moet ons immers waarschuwen voor gevaarlijke situaties en ons aanzetten tot impulsieve reacties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Mensen met vliegangst voelen zich enkele dagen voor vertrek vaak ongemakkelijk. De meesten zijn een beetje gespannen en bezorgd. Ten laatste bij het instappen treden ernstigere symptomen op, zoals zweten, beven of lichte duizeligheid. Maar niet iedereen die een vliegreis vermijdt, lijdt aan <a title=\"Als angst een ziekte wordt\" href=\"https:\/\/remstim.com\/wann-angst-zur-krankheit-wird\/\">pathologische<\/a> vliegangst. Van <a title=\"Als angst een ziekte wordt\" href=\"https:\/\/remstim.com\/wann-angst-zur-krankheit-wird\/\">een angststoornis<\/a> is meestal pas sprake als de getroffenen in paniek en als verlamd reageren en bijvoorbeeld ademhalingsmoeilijkheden krijgen. De <a title=\"Als angst een ziekte wordt\" href=\"https:\/\/remstim.com\/wann-angst-zur-krankheit-wird\/\">pathologische angst<\/a> be\u00efnvloedt permanent het leven van de getroffenen, vooral omdat zij de situatie als levensbedreigend beschouwen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Nu weten we wat er bedoeld wordt met vliegangst. Maar dat alleen is niet genoeg om van de vliegangst af te komen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Een succesvolle aanpak is het overwinnen van een niet-zieke vliegangst in EMDR zelfcoaching.
