Why EMDR intensive workshops are so effective & efficient
An EMDR workshop is completely different from any seminar you may have attended as a participant to date. This is because usual workshops usually aim to provide participants with new options for action, behavior patterns and skills through knowledge transfer and exercises. Skepticism, differing views, and lack of insight among participants can quickly defeat the purpose and intended changes of the seminar. Read what else happens at EMDR workshops and why they really do make a lasting difference.
Something completely different happens in an EMDR workshop:
An EMDR workshop focuses on your emotions and emotional memory(Somatic Markers). Because you can only achieve real change through your body memory, on which your beliefs and convictions also depend.
Insight, openness and benevolent willingness of each participant, which are important prerequisites for successful achievement of goals in ordinary workshops, are not necessary in an EMDR workshop. As long as a participant agrees to take part in the EMDR workshop and to follow the coaching process, it usually does not matter anymore how much inner resistance and skepticism or even fear a participant carries within him or herself for a successful achievement of the goal. This is because neither knowledge transfer nor advice to convince participants is the focus of an EMDR workshop.
Thus, an EMDR workshop is ideally suited to work on key topics in a group and yet individually and to successfully anchor the content with the participant. Any existing skepticism, doubts and resistance are reduced at the same time.
This is because, within the framework of the chosen workshop topic, the personal emotional reaction of each participant and thus his or her previous perception are positively changed in a goal-oriented manner through EMDR coaching. Please read more about this under Stimulation Effects of EMDR.
What does intensive mean?
This is also the reason why our EMDR workshops are so-called intensive workshops. Participants have an intense experience, regularly going through emotional re-evaluation during our workshops. Experiencing change in one’s emotions and thoughts is the focus. New individual options for action, behavior patterns and skills emerge as if by magic. Individual, as each participant is able to use their own skills and resources in a new way for this. Thanks to an emotional reassessment of the circumstances and situations relevant to the topic, this is now possible, especially in the long term.

Typically, EMDR coaching is used one-on-one; a coach guides a coachee through the coaching process. Usually because the intervention technique of EMDR, stimulating rapid eye movements must be used regularly in the coaching process. Without tools, this can only be done in one-on-one coaching. Personal remains personal
In EMDR coaching it is possible to leave one’s own issues unspoken, i.e. kept secret, both in front of the coach and in the workshop in front of the other participants. This approach is called “covert work” and is advised in group & company workshops and preferred by participants. No one is forced to share their own beliefs and thoughts in front of the group.
During the intensive workshops, the focus of which you choose yourself, participants are guided through EMDR coaching by the experienced trainer and coach Thomas Buhl.
