Why EMDR coaching is so intense, effective & efficient
EMDR coaching is different from most coaching sessions you may have attended to date. Conventional coaching typically aims to provide you with new courses of action, behavioral patterns, and skills through knowledge transfer and exercises. Skepticism, differing views, and a lack of insight on your part can quickly undermine the purpose and desired changes of the coaching. Read on to learn what happens differently in EMDR coaching and why it brings about truly lasting change.
In EMDR coaching, something completely different happens:
In EMDR coaching, your emotions and your emotional memory (somatic markers) are the focus. Because you can only achieve real change through your body memory, on which your beliefs and convictions also depend.
Insight, openness, and benevolent willingness, which are important prerequisites for successful goal achievement in ordinary coaching, are not necessary in EMDR coaching. As long as you agree to take advantage of EMDR coaching and follow the coaching process, the amount of inner resistance and skepticism or even fear you harbor usually no longer matters for successful goal achievement. Neither knowledge transfer nor advice that you should be convinced of are the focus of an EMDR workshop.
EMDR coaching is ideally suited to individually address key topics and successfully anchor the content. Any existing skepticism, doubts and resistance are reduced at the same time.
Within the framework of the chosen coaching topic, your personal emotional reaction and thus your previous perception are positively changed in a targeted manner by the EMDR coaching. Please read more about this under Stimulation Effects of EMDR.
What does intensive mean?
This is also why our EMDR coaching sessions are so-called intensive coaching sessions. You have an intense experience; you regularly experience an emotional re-evaluation during the coaching. Experiencing change in one’s emotions and thoughts is the focus. New individual options for action, behavior patterns and skills emerge as if by magic. You will be able to use your own skills and resources in a new way in the future. This is made possible, and particularly sustainable, thanks to an emotional re-evaluation of the circumstances and situations relevant to the topic.
The specific personal guidance for EMDR techniques makes remote EMDR coaching possible.
EMDR coaching has typically been used in personal one-on-one coaching, where the coach and coachee are in the same room. The coach guides the coachee and leads them through the coaching process. Usually because the intervention technique of EMDR, stimulating rapid eye movements must be used regularly in the coaching process. Thanks to special guidance and experience, it is possible to enable the stimulation of eye movements remotely through special EMDR techniques, and to offer effective EMDR coaching remotely and thus online.
Personal remains personal
With EMDR coaching, it is possible to leave your own topics unspoken, i.e., to keep them secret. This approach is called “covert work.” No one is forced to share their own beliefs and thoughts.
