back to introduction – Self-coach in 6 steps…
1st step of EMDR self-coaching: Determine the theme
- What moves you the most at this moment?
- What thoughts are bothering you at the moment? What is the most unpleasant image, the most unpleasant sentence?
- What's on your mind?
- Concentrate on the idea, the situation, the thing, the picture, the sentence, etc., what stresses you the most!
Continue to step 2: Determine emotions…
Helpful tips:
Determine your topic during self-coaching with EMDR
It is very worthwhile for you to take a little time to become clear regarding your issue. Certainly it is possible to perform EMDR and especially rapid eye movements without a specific focus. After all, the REMSTIM 3000 just invites you to simply hold an EMDR self-coaching session for mental hygiene, even without much stress. 2-3 times 30 seconds with the EMDR glasses regularly relax noticeably and let the thoughts become clearer.
However, in the presence of a particular issue, it is advisable to carry out the planned self-help with EMDR and the REMSTIM 3000 using the 6 steps.
Try to define your theme for yourself in some way. As mentioned above, this can be an idea, a situation, a thing or a certain image.
Take what is offered to you and do not even try to find a reason for what appears to you. Root cause analysis is not a necessity for EMDR to be effective, even when self-applied.
In some stressful cases, the issue is just too pressing. Take it and go to the second step of self-coaching instruction with EMDR.
