2nd step of EMDR self-coaching: The emotions determine
- Do you feel anything while focusing on your subject?
- What emotion is it that you feel?
- For example, is it: Anger, annoyance, indignation, being annoyed, fear, anxiety, sadness, loss, helplessness, powerlessness, being at the mercy of others, surprise, confusion, "being in the wrong movie", guilt, responsibility, shame, mortification, insult, degradation, disgust, hatred, disgust, disgust, disgust, "creepiness", tiredness, thirst, hunger, not feeling? Or another emotion?
Now evaluate the extent of your subjective touching:

Determine your emotions during self-coaching with EMDR
After you have chosen your theme for yourself, look inside yourself and try to find an emotion within yourself that goes along with your thoughts around your theme. Finding your own emotions about this and becoming clear about them is sometimes not easy. However, since EMDR is intended to trigger processing of distressing emotions by means of its intervention in the 4th step of self-coaching, Rapid Eye Movement Stimulation, naming can be very helpful.
There is one mistake you cannot make. Again, just follow the first impulse. EMDR does the rest. If there is more behind it, you will experience new associations during the intervention with the REMSTIM 3000, which you may then simply follow. Therein lies a great advantage of EMDR: You work with what presents itself to you at that moment.
If none of the listed emotions strike you as accurate because they do not adequately describe your perceived emotion, then simply continue working with the idea of what you are experiencing emotionally and go to the third step of the self-coaching guide with EMDR.
Also a non-feeling of any emotion, an absence of any emotion is of course acceptable. Then just take that emotional void and move on.
On the scale from -10 to +10 you can determine for yourself the extent of your subjective touch. But be careful: The numbers from -10 to -6 are a warning. If you estimate the extent of your stress in this range of values, it may be helpful as well as necessary to consult an EMDR coach or EMDR therapist you trust, since the topic seems to be extremely stressful for you, which makes self-coaching with EMDR and the REMSTIM 3000 seem inadvisable.
